SEVENTEEN YEARS AND OVER FOUR MILLION WORDS OF EROTIC FICTION - FROM THE MASTER

Ray Gordon is a very private man, but by no means a man of few words. His prolific output of quality erotic fiction over seventeen-years has made him the number one name in erotica. Having written over forty full-length novels and countless short stories - some four million words of sensual and sexually stimulating reading - Ray Gordon IS the master of erotica. A short bio from the man himself...

As a child, I loved telling ghost stories to my two brothers. One of my favourites was The Hand. Something grizzly lurked in the attic. In the dark of the night, the attic hatch would rise and a wizened hand appear... I've always loved telling stories, but didn't set out to write erotic fiction. About eighteen years ago, just for fun, I wrote my first piece of erotica. It was only a couple of pages about a young girl pulling her panties down and exploring her femininity. I enjoyed writing it and my friends loved reading it. It ended up in the bin and that was that, or so I thought.

I then met a young lady who worked for a men's magazine and she suggested that I write erotica. I've never looked back. Regularly writing short stories for several men's magazines was great fun. But there were restrictions. I'd find that the story was developing well and suddenly realize that it was far too long. They say that a book isn't a long short story, which is true. My first book, Arousal, began life as a three-thousand-word short story. It was only when I realized that I'd written just over ten-thousand words that I thought it might develop into a full-length novel.

I carried on writing and eventually finished the book, which I called Arousal. Coming up with another idea, I wrote The House Of Lust and then The Uninhibited. My publisher liked them and asked me to write another two books, and then two more and two more and... I'm now on my fortieth novel. I love writing erotic fiction. Setting the scene, developing the characters and the plot... I very often centre the story on a young lady, such as in my sixth novel, The Splits. Left by her husband, Suzanne goes through a period of grieving which turns into anger. She then seeks revenge, not only on her husband, but all married couples. Realizing that she has pussy power, she lures her friends' husbands into bed. Suzanne becomes a serial marriage wrecker, finally destroying her ex-husband by... I won't spoil the story.

Dirty books, smutty books, sexy books, porn, filthy books, erotica... The difference between pornography and erotica? I recall a quote that went something like this: What you do imaginatively and sensually with a feather is erotic. What you do with the whole chicken is pornographic. I hasten to add that I've never done anything with a chicken, other than stuff it. My books are sexually explicit in the extreme, leaving nothing to the imagination. Does that make them pornographic?

Sex has its serious side and its funny side. In my novels, Depravicus, Doctor Sex, Girl School and Hot Sheets, I've tried to bring in as much humour as possible. Humour is very much an individual thing. All Tommy Cooper has to do is walk onto the stage and I'm in fits of laughter. Laurel and Hardy are brilliant, in my opinion. But Charlie Chaplin leaves me cold. One friend of mine loved Depravicus, saying that he didn't know whether to laugh or wank - or both. Another friend didn't find the book at all funny.

It's the same with music. I wouldn't rubbish The Bay City Rollers just because it's not my scene. And I wouldn't expect someone to rubbish Jimi Hendrix just because they don't like his music. The same applies to sex. An upskirt view of a pair of bulging silk panties can be more arousing than a gynaecological shot of a gaping vaginal entrance. Some people are into watersports, and others bondage and spanking. Anal sex, oral, cleavage, whipping, shaving, nipple clamps, masturbation... I've tried to cater for all tastes.

Sex can be sensual, loving, painful, cruel, cold, depraved, vulgar, serious, humorous... Whatever turns you on. The same applies to four-letter words. Some love talking dirty, some don't. We all have our fetishes, our likes and dislikes. But let's keep having sex. Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy my novels, e-books and short stories.
